Most Brits don't backup data
The majority of Britons could lose their digital lives and businesses in an instant, as a poll reveals three-quarters don't backup their PC data.
Just 24 per cent of people told a MyMemory.com survey that they backed up their photos, videos and personal data.
Over half (52 per cent) of those who didn't backup explained that they didn't know how to, while a fifth (21 per cent) said that they "couldn't be bothered" to, reports PC Advisor.
Not backing up data in many cases can lead to disaster; particularly for those running a home business. However, if small enterprises do practice backing up and then misplace their data, computer support specialists will always be on hand to help rectify its full re-instatement.
"It can be incredibly distressing to realise that you've lost precious files from your computer, particularly if these involve work or treasured photographs," commented Rebecca Huggler, co-founder of MyMemory.com Backup.
"Most of our lives are stored on our computer in one way or another nowadays, yet computers are always at risk of losing files or crashing without explanation; taking with them your important files," she said, cited Tweetmeme.com.
A third of people said that they had lost important work documents in the survey, while 57 per cent confessed they had become "distressed" after losing items of a personal nature, like digital photographs.
Of those who do backup, online storage was most favoured (41 per cent), with external storage solutions following closely behind (36 per cent).
