Google Chrome is most secure browser, claims study
Google's Chrome has topped a list of the most-secure browsers, reports Tech Watch.
Of the big three browsers - Chrome by Google, Firefox by Mozilla and Internet Explorer by Microsoft - figures from Accuvant LABS have determined that the most secure browsers of them all is Chrome.
Overall, Chrome ranked top of the research due to its "plug-in security and sandboxing architectures which are more thorough and comprehensive than Firefox's and IE's".
However, cynics may casually point out that the research itself was commissioned by Google. Nonetheless, there is no conspiracy theory here as the research has been described as a "comprehensive and independently design security analysis" which is intended to "advance discussion of best practices in the security community".
While Internet Explorer managed to beat Firefox overall, the research concluded that none of the browsers' URL filters (which attempt to prevent users from accessing malicious pages) were suitable.
As such, it is always advisable to install credible computer support software in order to protect both personal information and company information from any cyber criminals, otherwise risking the consequences of confidential data being stolen.
The Register sums up the report: "Chrome is the most secure browser, followed closely by Microsoft IE. Mozilla's open-source Firefox came in third, largely because of its omission of a security sandbox that shields vital parts of the Windows operating system from functions that parse JavaScript, images and other web content."
